Exciting Opportunity for a Development Accounting Professional

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic and collaborative organization as a Development Accounting professional. Reporting to the Manager, Development Accounting, you will be responsible for coordinating development and construction treasury and payables processes, including reviewing development invoices, preparing capital draws, and monitoring loan accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in coordinating development and construction treasury and payables processes
  • Account and report on development cost spend to relevant stakeholders
  • Assist in monitoring loan accounts, including construction draws, interest payments, loan renewals, and quarterly loan compliance
  • Prepare development management fee entries
  • Perform month-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and other tasks
  • Assist in preparation of project HST filings
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for external stakeholders
  • Assist with the preparation of annual audited financial statements, including note disclosures, and assist in quarterly review and annual audit process
  • Liaise with the development team, property managers, developers, equity partners, lenders, and other external parties
  • Assist with special and ad hoc projects as necessary

Requirements:
  • University degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Interested in pursuing CPA designation
  • A self-starter who is able to work independently in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and adheres to high standards for work quality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with good work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
