Category Manager

Join Pet Supermarket as a Category Manager and take on a key role in driving business growth and success. As a member of our Merchandising team, you will be responsible for managing Hardlines categories, developing category management practices, and building a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop annual merchandising plans to drive business growth and profitability
- Develop and implement category management practices that meet volume goals and margin requirements
- Build and lead a high-performing Category Management team with well-defined practices, processes, and tools
- Oversee assortment strategy for all products, including an annual merchandise roadmap
- Monitor product releases, pricing, and development calendar milestones
- Analyze real-time sales performance to identify areas of risk and opportunity
- Develop and implement plans to address areas of risk and opportunity
- Partner with Marketing to drive customer acquisition and retention
- Ensure all functional areas within the company stay educated about the consumer and products
- 4-6 years of experience in a merchandising role
- Bachelor's degree in business management or related field; MBA is an asset
- Strong background in proven category management processes
- Deep experience in category line reviews
- Team-oriented and demonstrated excellence in cross-functional leadership and management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proactive and creative
- Knowledgeable and successful in multi-channel sales via both wholesale and direct-to-customer
- Action Oriented - Enjoys working hard; is action-oriented and full of energy for the things seen as challenging
- Dealing With Ambiguity - Can effectively cope with change; can shift gears comfortably
- Business Acumen - Knows how businesses work; knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, and information affecting the business and organization
