Director of Quality Job Description

As the Director of Quality at INNIO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our products and services consistently meet the highest quality standards. Reporting directly to the V.P. of Operations, you will be at the forefront of quality assurance, driving strategic initiatives and leading a team of quality professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality plan that aligns with INNIO's global quality standards, including annual quality management plans and QA/QC goals and KPIs.
  • Lead improvement initiatives to ensure product compliance with engineering specifications throughout all phases of engine manufacturing, testing, and dispatch.
  • Utilize Lean Six Sigma Quality engineering principles and strong leadership skills to guide, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of first-time product quality, productivity improvement, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with functional operations leaders to ensure timely resolution of product quality issues, prioritizing customer product delivery dates.
  • Work with supplier quality management to safeguard the plant from inbound supplier quality issues.
  • Lead ongoing quality system development and process audit activities across the business unit.
  • Report to top management on the performance of the Quality Management System (QMS), highlighting areas for improvement.
  • Represent INNIO on matters related to the quality system, identifying potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, and developing corrective action plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the quality control process.
  • Develop and maintain the department budget for operating and capital expenditures.
  • Have dotted line responsibility of the Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) organization.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering; a master's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • 10+ years' experience in Quality Assurance & Quality Control, with at least half of that time leading teams.
  • Well-versed in product Quality and Reliability methodologies like MTBF, FMEA, Causal Effects Analysis, 8D, 5 Whys, and more.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) are a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 & TS/ IATF16949 quality systems.
  • Green Belt in Six Sigma and a solid understanding of Lean principles.
  • Strong analytical thinker with problem-solving & communication skills.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused and enthusiastic approach.
  • Strong customer orientation, a sense of urgency, and a growth mindset.
  • Proven mentoring and coaching abilities, with the ability to motivate, inspire others, and drive change within the organization to meet team goals/objectives.
