Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • File Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date physical and digital files, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Correspondence and Document Preparation: Draft and prepare demand letters, correspondence, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents as required.
  • Litigation Support: Assist in the management of in-house litigation files, including collecting delinquent accounts, liaising with collection agencies and outside counsel, and preparing files for collection agencies and outside counsel.
  • Court Filings and Communication: Effectively communicate with Court Clerks regarding court filings and litigation status issues.
  • Credit Reporting and Analysis: Liaise with Credit Reporting agencies to obtain credit reports, corporate profiles, property abstracts, and mortgage documents, and assess credit reports and title searches.
  • Credit Eligibility and Risk Management: Monitor weekly bulletins, prepare Credit Memos, and assess customers' credit eligibility, while maintaining quarterly litigation status charts for senior management.
  • Company-Wide Risk Management: Assist in the enforcement of company-wide risk management policies and procedures.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Regularly interact and communicate with Credit Managers, Controllers, and Managers at the division level regarding accounts receivables and litigation files.
Requirements
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: A high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail are essential for this role.
  • Time Management and Organization: Excellent time management and organization skills, as well as strong communication and prioritization skills, are required.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Rules of the Small Claims Court, as well as a foundational understanding of the Construction Act and Bankruptcy and Insolvency legislation and procedures, are necessary.
  • Education and Certifications: A Law Clerk Diploma or Certificate, and a College/University degree, are preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong MS Office and PC skills are required.
