About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Management Specialist to join our team at BMO Financial Group. As a Counterparty Credit Risk Lead, you will play a critical role in providing production and end-user support and governance for the risk technical platform and system environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Technical Support: Offer production and end-user support and governance for the risk technical platform and system environment.
  • Oversee System Changes: Plan, maintain, and change manage risk system strategies, process changes, system parameter changes, production schedules, and operational tasks.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with trading, line of business, risk oversight, analytic, model team, and operations to ensure proper handling of trades in Counterparty Credit Risk systems.
  • Implement Changes: Propose and implement changes to facilitate new business by providing requirements based on system need, participating in upstream initiative meetings, and organizing/coordinating the SIT/UAT required.
  • Investigate System Issues: Provide assistance and guidance on investigations related to system level issues identified, help to review the issues, and follow the process to facilitate fixes needed based on priorities assigned.
  • Develop Business Specifications: Draft, maintain, and improve the business specification, develop system implementation, and monitor implementation against agreed timelines.
  • Financial Product Knowledge: Possess exceptional financial product knowledge, including OTC Derivatives and Security Financing Transactions.
  • Programming Skills: Have excellent programming skills, including Python platform.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Lead interdependent teams that collaborate across functional and operating groups to create the highest value for all stakeholders.
  • Performance Management: Improve team performance, recognize and reward performance, coach employees, support their development, and manage poor performance.
  • Strategic Planning: Assist in the development of strategic plans, identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making, and research existing or emerging requirements and related best practices.
  • System Management: Support the planning and execution of system management infrastructure planning and development activities for a designated portfolio.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Represent the risk systems management function during internal/external regulatory audits and/or examinations.
  • Change Management: Build change management plans of varying scope and type, lead or participate in a variety of change management activities, and guide/assist in the identification and classification of issues.
  • Data Management: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on business objectives, build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders, and monitor and track performance and address any issues.
Qualifications
  • Typically between 5 - 8 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk system management concepts and applications.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with risk policy frameworks, quality control/testing frameworks, and omics.
  • Experience with Counterparty Credit Risk systems.
  • Knowledge of Python platform.
  • Knowledge of FDS and/or FRM.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Compensation

The salary for this role is $138,600.00 per year, and the pay type is Salaried.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
