Psychologist (PhD) - Senior's Health - Mental Health and Wellness

The Clinical Psychologist (PhD) is a key member of the Senior's Health Care Program within the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care portfolio of Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. Psychologists play a crucial role in planning, delivering, and evaluating services, as well as educating and supervising students. Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health offers a CPA-accredited pre-doctoral internship program in Clinical Psychology.
The primary focus of the service is to address the psychosocial needs of veterans and residents living at long-term care facilities, as well as providing support to their significant others. The successful candidate will be required to provide one-on-one assessment and intervention, assist with the development of interdisciplinary care plans, and provide consultation to other members of the healthcare team and other healthcare providers.
The Psychologist may be required to provide services throughout the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio.
About YouWe are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist (PhD) with a strong clinical health psychology background and experience working with elderly populations. The ideal candidate will have:
- A doctoral degree from a recognized, accredited program in Clinical Psychology.
- A one-year accredited clinical pre-doctoral internship.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP).
- Familiarity with clinical health psychology assessment and intervention.
- Familiarity with dementia and other diagnoses leading to placement in long-term care.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in formulating diagnoses and implementing treatment plans.
- Self-directed practice with the ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in clinical research and program evaluation.
- Experience in clinical supervision of psychology trainees.
- Experience with training program development and evaluation.
- Competencies in other languages, with French being an asset.
Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.
Hours- Long assignment, Part-time (50%) position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly.
- Approximately a 12-month assignment.
$62.74 Hourly
