Clinical Health Psychologist

The Clinical Psychologist (PhD) is an integral member of the Senior's Health Care Program within the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care portfolio of Nova Scotia Health. This role involves planning, delivering, and evaluating services, as well as educating and supervising students. Nova Scotia Health offers a CPA-accredited pre-doctoral internship program in Clinical Psychology.
The primary focus of the service will be to address the psychosocial needs of veterans and residents living at Camp Hill Long Term Care, NSHA, as well as providing support to their significant others. The successful candidate will be required to provide 1:1 assessment and intervention, assist with the development of interdisciplinary care plans, and provide consultation to other members of the Camp Hill healthcare team and other healthcare providers.
The Psychologist may be required to provide services throughout the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio.
About You- We are seeking a Doctoral degree holder from a recognized, accredited program in Clinical Psychology with a strong clinical health psychology background and experience working with elderly populations.
- A one-year accredited clinical pre-doctoral internship is required.
- Registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology (NSBEP) is mandatory.
- Familiarity with clinical health psychology assessment and intervention is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with dementia and other diagnoses leading to placement in long-term care is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in formulating diagnoses and implementing treatment plans.
- Self-directed in practice with the ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in clinical research and program evaluation would be an asset.
- Experience in clinical supervision of psychology trainees would be an asset.
- Experience with training program development and evaluation would be an asset.
- Competencies in other languages would be an asset, with French being preferred.

Hours- This is a long-assignment, part-time (50%) position with 37.5 hours bi-weekly.
- The assignment is approximately 12 months long.
The hourly rate for this position is $62.74.
