Network Connectivity Services Manager

In this role, you will be responsible for managing data networks within Interior Health, including the design, planning, implementation, and support of WAN, LAN, MAN, cellular infrastructure, wireless networks, and associated devices and equipment. You will provide direction and leadership to Network Infrastructure staff and contractors, applying data communications technology for optimum utilization, enhancement, and operation.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the activities of the Network Connectivity Services staff by recruiting, hiring, disciplining, and terminating staff as required.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching, completes performance evaluations, and prepares staff development and training plans.
- Allocate resources, monitor staff and budgets to ensure effective delivery of network infrastructure projects in accordance with the goals, objectives, and strategic and tactical plans for Network Connectivity Services and Digital Health.
- Manage network requirements for all IH facilities, providing oversight and direction for all network connectivity at IH facilities, maintaining network hardware, and managing capacity in communication rooms.
- Select, approve, and negotiate service terms with suppliers to ensure the communications needs of Interior Health are met.
- Monitor the performance of suppliers to ensure compliance with terms.
- Provide guidance and direction to facilities projects to ensure Digital Health needs are met and concerns are addressed for facilities capital projects.
- Develop, manage operating and capital budgets for all facilities in Interior Health; monitor expenses, conduct variance analyses, and prepare relevant reports.
- Provide leadership and coaching to team members to meet organizational needs and expectations.
- Interpret and administer collective agreements covering all bargaining unit employees; investigate and respond to routine and confidential employee issues and participate in grievance investigation and response.
- Undertake complex, integrated network infrastructure projects from preliminary analysis to post-implementation review.
- Oversee network architecture through developing and approving standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines for network systems; implement quality assurance and improvement activities; evaluate and effect changes as needed to improve service delivery and efficiency, simplify workflow, and assure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Function as a liaison between Digital Health and internal and external parties in order to resolve complex and/or sensitive issues.
- Represent Interior Health on various provincial and health authority working groups; liaise with other organizations and vendors in support of network technologies.
- In alignment with IH's Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations, and implementing required corrective actions.
