Job Summary
We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health Services team based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. As an Occupational Therapist with Shannex, you will play a critical role in ensuring our residents receive high-quality care and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and interpret standardized and non-standardized tests and evaluations to assess resident needs related to occupational therapy.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical records, observation, and referral; collaborate with interdisciplinary staff for overall treatment planning.
- Evaluate resident progress in relation to occupational therapy treatment provided through tests and observation; confer with nursing staff and physicians on treatment effectiveness.
- Prepare progress reports, funding requests, and statistical reports on occupational therapy treatment programs and resident needs; maintain accurate treatment records.
- Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team; provide evaluation and progress reports on residents. Design and produce adaptive equipment, utensils, splints, or other orthotic devices as needed for residents; instruct residents and staff on equipment use.
- Coordinate facility equipment management; contact suppliers for service and maintenance of wheelchairs, geri chairs, and power wheelchairs.
- Provide staff training on ergonomics, seating assessment, skin integrity, equipment, and other related topics as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy; current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology as related to practice; familiarity with adaptive equipment, wheelchairs, positioning chairs, utensils, and splints.
- Previous experience in nursing homes or healthcare environments an asset.
- Passion for the healthcare sector and ensuring seniors access quality accommodations, services, and care.

Compensation and Salary
The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a competitive compensation package, including comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth and development.
