About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Procurement Specialist to join our team at CN. As a key member of our Procurement and Supply Management department, you will play a critical role in developing and executing innovative procurement strategies that drive sustainable enterprise value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement procurement category strategies to achieve cost reduction targets and improve supplier performance.
  • Monitor and analyze key contracts, negotiate contract terms and conditions, and manage supplier relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and promote value creation.
  • Conduct data analytics to inform sourcing decisions and develop business cases for management approval.
  • Lead the RFx process, evaluate supplier responses, and prepare procurement process documentation.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers, including commercial and legal clauses.
  • Manage contracts, supplier relationships, and supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with Buyers to ensure all rates and agreements are appropriately administered in the Purchase to Pay (P2P) process.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policy and participate in department-wide projects as required.
Requirements
  • Between 4 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Law, or equivalent.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to conduct complex negotiations and recommend negotiation strategies to CN executives.
  • Familiarity with the rail and locomotive industry, locomotive technology, and current industry trends and business needs.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, understand customer-centric mind-sets, and demonstrate active listening.
  • Solves problems to create value, communicates with impact, and collaborates with others to share information.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract and program management, with the ability to adapt, manage, and perform under pressure.
  • Extensive knowledge of contractual financial aspects, including NPV, TCO, CPI/PPI, and ability to drive innovative analysis to understand market trends, cost drivers, suppliers, and best practices.
  • Strong technical skills related to data tools and presentation of data, knowledge of strategic sourcing best practices, P2P, supplier performance principles, and basic knowledge of Incoterms, Customs, and documentation required for delivery within North America and international imports.
