Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Safety Manager to join our team at Parsons Corporation. As a key member of our safety and health team, you will be responsible for providing oversight and support to ensure the safety, health, and environmental well-being of our employees and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Parsons on project or program worksites and provide expert advice on safety and health matters.
  • Assist project or program managers in implementing Parsons' Environmental, Safety, Health, and Risk Program (ESHARP) management system and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Oversee the health and safety program for employees and contractors working at the site, including conducting audits and inspections to identify hazards and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement effective safety and health training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Investigate incidents and near-miss events to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Perform trend analysis on safety and health data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Represent Parsons during external regulatory or loss control inspections of project worksites.
  • Collaborate with project or program managers, craft workers, and other stakeholders to identify and implement safety and health improvements.
  • Assist with new hire orientation and provide guidance on safety and health procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments for upcoming work and provide expert advice on safety and health matters.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and third parties in a professional manner to ensure compliance with contract agreements and relevant standards.

Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in occupational safety and health or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years or more of related work experience in the field of occupational safety and health.
  • Certification as a Canadian Certified Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist.
  • Extensive knowledge of Canadian safety and health regulations, acts, and reporting requirements.
  • High-level knowledge of federal and territorial SH&E regulations and reporting procedures, and exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
