About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety, and Environmental Specialist to join our team at ARaymond Network. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, as well as maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with plant management and supervision to ensure adherence to our Health, Safety, and Environmental policy and promote a safe work environment.
  • Responsible for all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and programs at our Hamilton, Canada facility.
  • Manage the ISO 14001 program and drive improvements in the program, serving as the primary contact and lead for audits and corrective actions.
  • Conduct Safety and Environmental orientations for new employees.
  • Champion the Joint Health and Safety Committee and serve as the Company's Management Co-Chairperson.
  • Work with Plant Supervisors to complete Injury and Incident reports and participate in investigations, including the completion of 5-Why root cause analysis.
  • Identify trends and patterns related to incidents and work with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to determine corrective measures.
  • Provide safety-related metrics on a monthly basis, including TRIR and near misses.
  • Arrange for internal or external safety training, including JHSC certification, Fork Lift, and Sky Jack training.
  • Coordinate and track hazardous and non-hazardous waste removal from site.
  • Support waste management, including tracking, registration, sampling, and auditing in accordance with regulations.
  • Work with contracted third parties to complete annual MOE reporting obligations.
  • Promote health and safety and environmental awareness through various methods, including safety talks, electronic media presentations, posters, and awards.
  • Serve as the plant ambassador for Corporate Social Responsibility activities, including data collection, reporting, and environmental initiatives.
Requirements
  • College or University graduate with a background in Health, Safety, and Environment, Human Resources, or equivalency.
  • 5+ years' experience in a health, safety, and environmental specialist role in a manufacturing setting.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to health and safety, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario, Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
  • Joint Health and Safety Certification is a must, with Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) being considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex HSE issues.
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills, with the ability to interface and deal well with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to adapt, manage multiple projects, and prioritize work with follow-up through to completion and successful implementation.
  • Computer-literate with experience in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
