'Responsibilities'
The Medical Care Specialist will be responsible for:
- Administering medications
- Applying aseptic techniques, including sterile dressing
- Conducting specimen collection
- Ensuring infection control
- Monitoring nutritional intake
- Observing and recording medication's therapeutic and side effects
- Preparing patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing operative areas
- Recording medication's therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files
- Taking vital signs
- Providing technical assistance to surgeons
- Cleaning and sterilizing the operating room and instruments
- Providing pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care
- Monitoring established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy
- Providing safety and health education to individuals and their families
- Providing nursing services within defined scope of practice
- Monitoring patients' progress and evaluating the effectiveness of nursing interventions
