We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Partner to join our team at the University of Alberta. Key Responsibilities- Strategic Advisor
- Provide expert advice and guidance to researchers on all aspects of research proposal development, including crafting research proposals and navigating external funding organizations.
- Collaborate with researchers to identify opportunities for research funding and develop strategies to increase the success rate of research proposals.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the research capacity and expertise within assigned areas.
- Issue Resolver
- Provide research administration-related data and analytics to inform key decision-making by area leadership.
- Resolve research administration and research development-related issues, including research policy and one-off exceptions, procedure, and funding organization-related concerns.
- Relationship Manager
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships within assigned areas, including with researchers, faculty, and staff.
- Facilitate the development of research partnerships with external organizations and stakeholders.
- Researcher Support
- Provide coaching and hands-on assistance to researchers in developing grant applications and proposals.
- Develop and maintain educational opportunities and materials related to sponsor-specific grant-crafting success.
- A graduate degree (Master's) is required, with previous research experience, particularly in Indigenous-focused research, preferred.
- Minimum five years of relevant work experience, ideally in an academic research environment.
- Experience developing, writing, and/or editing research funding applications and proposals, as well as a solid understanding of federal and provincial research funding environments and funding agency mandates.
- Excellent active listening, oral and written communication skills, as well as time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a large institutional environment.
- Cultural sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy, with personal experience working with Indigenous peoples and diverse groups of individuals.
