Job Title:

Commercial Property Accounting Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Property Accounting Specialist to join our team at TDS Personnel in North York. The successful candidate will have a strong background in property accounting and excellent analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Input and maintain tenant leases, set up charges, ensure accuracy of monthly rent roll, and issue chargeback invoices to tenants;
  • Entry of receivables-related transactions into Yardi, including cash receipts, billings, adjustments, tenant refunds, tenant allowances, tenant cheque requisitions, etc.;
  • Prepare and distribute monthly AR reports;
  • Prepare tenant statement of accounts;
  • Prepare tenant billings and ensure timely delivery;
  • Prepare Rental Advice Notices annually and as required for changes to billing amounts;
  • Maintain records of tenant security deposits;
  • Entering invoices into accounts payable system;
  • Processing payments;
  • Filing and maintaining supplier records;
  • Checking and verifying invoices;
  • Preparing cheques for payment;
  • Maintaining general ledger by posting journal entries, processing accruals, amortization, and depreciation;
  • Reconciling monthly bank statements;
  • Reporting and remitting HST;
  • Working with property managers on preparation of expense budgets recoverable and non-recoverable;
  • Completing annual recovery budgets for CAM and Tax;
  • Maintaining tenant recovery module quarterly;
  • Preparing year-end CAM and Tax recovery reconciliations to tenants;
  • Maintaining chargeback accounts;
  • Preparing quarterly property variance reports, including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, revenue, and operating expense;
  • Assisting with gathering and analyzing financial information and creating reports for various projects;
  • Liaising with on-site managers as required.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting or finance;
  • Minimum 2 years experience in property accounting;
  • Understanding of full cycle accounting;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a flexible team environment;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and with minimal supervision;
  • Detail oriented, analytical, good problem solving;
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
  • Previous experience with Yardi would be an asset.
Compensation:

The estimated salary for this role is $60,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a competitive compensation package that includes benefits and opportunities for professional growth.
