We are seeking a highly skilled Quarry Supervisor to join our team at CRH Canada - Cement ON. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of our Ogden Quarry, ensuring obstacle-free flow of limestone to our Mississauga Plant.
Key Responsibilities- Promote and enforce all plant safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Supervise and manage all quarry operations, including planning, utilization of manpower, equipment, inventory control, and cost management.
- Develop and implement short- and long-term quarry mining plans to optimize production and minimize costs.
- Lead production and maintenance teams to ensure effective control of daily operations and meet Mississauga limestone production needs.
- Establish and report on quarry budgets, advise on CAPEX needs, and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Maintain and promote ISO 14000 and 9001 standards, and liaise with the safety advisor to ensure compliance with safety policies and training & development.
- Represent CRH in dealings with regulatory bodies, including the M.O.E., M.O.L., and M.N.R. Explosive Regulatory Division & Ministry of Transport (Canada).
- Act as Port Security Officer and maintain records required by Ministry of Transport to ensure port security permit is retained.
- Participate in activities related to positive community relations and support efforts to provide necessary rehabilitation to site, in accordance with approved site plans.
- Maintain and order adequate inventory of supplies and materials, and provide support and guidance in labor contract negotiations.
- Provide analysis of site's production capacity, in relation to variations in market demands, contractor performance, and contractor bid evaluation.
- Perform payroll and administrative duties, including parts ordering and inventory management.
- Attend CSR, Volunteer, and Community Meetings, and manage vendors.
- Develop and implement production planning and MTCE scheduling PM's, and perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Minimum of a University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering or Geology, an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the aggregate industry, with 3 of those years in a supervisory position.
- Knowledge of MS Office, and knowledge of SAP an asset.
- Ability to deal effectively with unionized employees, and a high level of technical understanding.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, and ability to work Continental shift and standard shift when required.
- Candidate must be able to engage employees and communicate effectively.
- Ensures alignment of OH&S activities arising from Companies OH&S mission.
- Ensures relevant actions are taken so that OH&S requirements are met.
- Actively manages risks by ensuring that all related control activities are implemented thoroughly.
