Job Title: Data Governance Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Manager to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada. Reporting to the Director of Business Applications, you will develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data governance strategy, ensuring compliance and informing decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity, implementing controls, metrics, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Monitor and enhance data security and compliance with regulations, developing and enforcing access and usage policies.
  • Collaborate with data stewards, IT, and business units to promote data governance best practices and facilitate stakeholder communication.
  • Provide training and support on data governance policies and procedures to ensure employee understanding and adherence.
  • Oversee data management initiatives, including classification, metadata, and lifecycle management, while maintaining data stewardship programs.
  • Support senior technology leadership in developing and executing strategies to manage MAWC's data assets, ensuring they support strategic decision-making.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of legal and compliance requirements applicable to Canadian charities, including Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) tax receipting requirements, federal and provincial privacy laws, consent, health information management, and digital communications laws.
  • Experience with data quality management and data security practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
