Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Procurement Professional to join our team at the Canadian National Railway Company.

About the Role:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting all procurement activities necessary to deliver value on their category.
  • This includes interacting with internal stakeholders, understanding their needs and promoting value creation.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent data analytics skills, with the ability to conduct analysis during different stages of the sourcing process.
  • Strong negotiation skills are also essential, as the candidate will need to negotiate contracts with suppliers (commercial & legal clauses).
  • In addition, the candidate will direct contracts, supplier relationships and supplier performance.
  • They will work with Buyers to ensure all rates and agreements are appropriately administered in the Purchase to Pay (P2P) process (i.e. SAP, Ariba, Fieldglass etc.).
  • The successful candidate will also ensure that all internal requirements in terms of compliance to procurement policy are met and addressed.
  • Prioritizing department-wide projects when required is also an essential part of this role.

About You:

  • You will have between 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role (Procurement Analyst).
  • If you are more experienced, you will have between 4 to 5 years experience in a similar role (Senior Procurement Specialist).
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or Law or equivalent is required.
  • You should be able to read and understand basic contract documents and drive innovative analysis to understand market trends, cost drivers, suppliers, and best practices.
  • Project management skills and strong technical skills related to data tools & presentation of data are also essential.
  • A basic understanding of Incoterms, Customs, and documentation required for international imports is required, as well as knowledge of commercial aspects of product/service categories.
  • An understanding of rail transportation or logistics industry is also preferred.
