Water System Assistant

Job Summary

The District of Saanich is seeking two Assistant Utility Operators to assist with the installation and repair of the Water systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Utility Operators with hands-on physical work, including live tapping of watermains and work on potable water systems.
  • Understand and follow best management practices to maintain water quality.
  • Perform heavy manual work in all types of weather, requiring versatility, manual dexterity, and sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • EOCP O.I.T. Certification for Water Distribution (an asset).
  • Six months of pipefitting experience in water main installation.
  • Traffic Control Certificate.
  • Occupational First Aid Level I Certification.
  • Valid Class 3 BC Driver's Licence with Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Annual renewal for Driver's Abstract.
Working Conditions

The successful candidates will work Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and must be able to work outside in all types of weather.

Benefits

These are C.U.P.E. Local 2011 positions with a wage of $33.51 per hour (2024 rate) plus an excellent benefits package.
