About the Role

B+H Architects is seeking a skilled Healthcare Planner to join our team in Toronto, Vancouver, or Calgary. As a key member of our Healthcare Architecture and Interior Design team, you will play a crucial role in delivering large-scale healthcare projects across Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Assist in managing deliverables for the medical planning team within the project schedule.
  • Medical Planning: Lead the medical planning process to create department floor plan concepts reflective of operations.
  • Expertise: Provide expertise on institutional, ambulatory, and business occupancy environments.
  • Client Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for clients on planning issues.
  • Process Flow: Work with end-users to outline process flows and critical adjacencies of clinical rooms.
  • Medical Equipment: Understand and guide discussions on medical equipment needs.
  • Discipline Coordination: Assist in coordinating all disciplines related to building design and health planning.
  • Problem-Solving: Engage in problem-solving, teamwork, critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and visualization to create accurate and detailed drawings.
  • Presentations: Prepare health planning presentation drawings, diagrams, and narratives, as well as drawings and specification documents.
  • Support and Mentorship: Provide planning, design, and coordination support on projects and pursuits, and engage in mentoring junior team members or other interested colleagues in health planning practices.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in Architecture.
  • Registration: Registered Architect preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years' experience in healthcare planning required.
  • Knowledge: Clear understanding of institutional, ambulatory, and business occupancy environments, applicable codes, building construction systems, materials, and standards, healthcare trends, design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, prints, drawings, and models.
  • Skills: Strong presentation, communication, organizational, collaboration, and communication skills, leadership, critical thinking, effective problem-solving, and decision-making skills, team player, adaptable with a positive attitude, strong computer skills (REVIT, MS Office Suite, Blue Beam).
  • Travel: Must be willing to travel to locations across Canada.
