Healthcare and Business Development Specialist

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Healthcare and Business Development Specialist to join our team at Scotiabank. This role requires a strong understanding of the healthcare industry and excellent business development skills to drive growth and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned healthcare customers, including their financial position and business needs.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to customers on financial services, increasing their ability to succeed in their businesses.
- Build and maintain relationships with key influencers and referral sources in the healthcare industry.
- Respond to customer requests for service, providing clear instructions and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities to recover customer relationships and take proactive steps to address any issues.
- Plan and execute relationship-building activities to create sales opportunities and drive business growth.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments to provide valuable insights to customers.
- Proactively identify prospects and collaborate with colleagues to develop effective sales strategies.
- Develop a deep understanding of customers' business and personal banking needs and preferences.
- Collaborate with Branch Managers and Wealth Management Consultants to deliver comprehensive solutions to customers.
- Work closely with partners to structure marketing activities and close deals.
- Process customer requests for business banking solutions, conducting due diligence as necessary.
- Negotiate compensation for financial products and services, adhering to Bank policies.
- Provide excellent communication to customers throughout the service setup process.
- Manage an assigned credit portfolio at an acceptable level of risk.
- Authorise, renew or decline customer requests within standard Bank policies and authorised limits.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure accounts adhere to conditions of authorisation.
- Identify and resolve deviations from conditions of authorisation, seizing opportunities to reduce risk and loss.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business law or economics, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven expertise in the healthcare segment within designated marketplaces.
- Expert knowledge of Small Business products and services, including ACE and GRM, Sales Builder, Intralink, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of risk management policies and processes, and legal and security documentation for small business products.
- Experience with interviewing, solicitation, marketing and business development techniques.
- Knowledge of applicable branch procedures, processes and workflows, small business legal structures, life cycles and owner characteristics, and business financial statements within the healthcare segment.
- Working knowledge of retail products and services (Wealth Management, Commercial Banking, MD Financial, Enterprise Solutions, etc.).
- Knowledge of competitor offerings and alternate sources of financing.
- Knowledge of economic conditions and political events affecting businesses, especially in the professional and healthcare segment.
- Ability to build and maintain key relationships, influence and persuade others, tactical planning, implementation and organisation skills.
- High degree of flexibility to adapt to a wide variety of tasks and functions, including being mobile to meet with customers and related COIs.
