About the Position
The Community Initiatives and Agriculture team at Edmonton EXPO Centre is seeking a skilled Agriculture Specialist to join our team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will have extensive experience and knowledge of the various sectors within the agriculture industry, including small and large livestock production, animal care best practices, forage and cropping, food production, and the value-add chain.
This knowledge will serve the Agriculture Specialist well as they develop, implement, and coordinate an array of agricultural programs and experiences that connect urban and rural communities and support the business of agriculture in an authentic manner. Key responsibilities will include delivering agriculture experiences at KDays, Farmfair International, and supporting the Canadian Finals Rodeo.
The Agriculture Specialist will positively influence decisions and outcomes by sharing agriculture knowledge, seeking agriculture options from their network, and problem-solving. This position requires an individual who is resilient, composed, and can help bridge the values of the farm with the values of Edmonton EXPO Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement agricultural programs and experiences that connect urban and rural communities and support the business of agriculture.
- Deliver agriculture experiences at KDays, Farmfair International, and other events.
- Support the Canadian Finals Rodeo and other agricultural events.
- Share agriculture knowledge and seek options from the network to positively influence decisions and outcomes.
- Problem-solve and think critically to address challenges and opportunities in the agriculture industry.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in agriculture, business, or a related field.
- 4 years of experience in agriculture programming with knowledge of the agriculture industry.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in collaboration.
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Suite and previous experience with ShoWorks.
