About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Compliance Officer - Labour Standards. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring that employers and recruiters comply with the Labour Standards Code and regulations.

As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for conducting inspections, enforcing the Labour Standards Code, and providing education and support to employers and recruiters. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of effective compliance strategies and process guidelines.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Conduct inspections of employment and recruitment records to assess compliance with the Labour Standards Code and regulations.
  • Enforce the Labour Standards Code and regulations by issuing orders to comply when necessary.
  • Conduct research, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports with recommendations on the division's foreign worker program activities.
  • Facilitate early resolution of Labour Standards complaints.
  • Assist with the recruiter licence and employer registration process.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and consistent information to employers and recruiters about the application of the Labour Standards Code.
Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of related experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of related experience. You should have strong interpersonal skills, a proven ability to build positive relationships with others, and experience dealing with frustrated and upset individuals.

You should also have excellent writing skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, as well as experience collecting and analyzing data. Additionally, you should be comfortable using Microsoft applications, including Excel and Outlook.
