Job Summary
As an Anesthesia Assistant, you will work closely with Anesthesiologists to provide anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. You will be responsible for monitoring stable anesthetized patients, ensuring patient safety and comfort before, during, and after surgery.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed anesthetic agents as directed by the Anesthesiologist and/or through medical directives.
- Provide diagnostic data to the Anesthesiologist or Surgeon.
- Support the preparation of the patient for surgery.
- Ensure proper patient positioning.
- Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance.
Requirements
- Advanced Diploma in Respiratory Therapy or an Undergraduate degree in Nursing plus a current certification as a Certified Clinical Anesthesia Assistant required.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario or the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Current Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
- Minimum 2 years current experience in the Anesthesia Assistant role in operating room required.
- 3- 5 years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Registered Nurse in a Critical Care/Emergency department or Operating Room.
