Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Foothills Medical Centre, an acute care hospital with over 1,100 beds. The successful candidate will provide evidence-informed services, focusing on occupational performance designed to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or communities.

Job Summary:

This position involves working as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and functioning as an integral health care team member. You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure.

About the Role:

  • Provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders and supports within clients' physical, institutional, cultural, and social environments.
  • Incorporate clients and families as integral members of the healthcare team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care.
  • Determine, implement, and evaluate rehabilitation plans in collaboration with clients and families.
  • Participate in interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support, and engage in quality improvement by partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for clients.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and participate in peer mentoring and supervising students.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
  • Experience within the last year providing Occupational Therapy interventions to adult patients in an acute hospital setting.
  • BLS for Health Care Providers Level C CPR certification issued within the last 12 months prior to commencement of employment.
  • Able to physically manage repetitive lifting and transferring of patients and equipment.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is approximately $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
