Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operating Engineer 2nd Class to join our team at the Central Powerhouse facility in downtown Winnipeg. This is a full-time position with a defined pension plan and excellent benefits package.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain a 1st Class High Pressure Heating Plant and its auxiliaries
  • Supervise the operation of heating/cooling, water supply and electrical generating equipment
  • Respond to fire alarms and observe and record all readings relating to energy consumption, steam and water pressures and cooling systems
  • Complete chemical testing and adding of chemicals for the boiler, chilled water and cooling tower systems
  • Test run emergency stand-by generators, fire booster pumps, and follow regulations set out by the Department with regard to safe operations and inspections
Requirements
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must have a 2nd Class Power Engineering Certification Registered with the Province of Manitoba
  • Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5F driver's licence
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Must be physically capable of performing the required duties of this position
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a First Class or Second Class Plant as Shift Engineer
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety Act, and any other relevant safety policies and legislation
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts
