Operating Engineer 2nd Class Position

Job Summary:
The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled 2nd Class Operating Engineer to work in the Central Powerhouse facility in downtown Winnipeg. This full-time position offers reliable employment with a defined pension plan and an excellent benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain the 1st Class High Pressure Heating Plant and its auxiliaries.
- Supervise the operation of heating/cooling, water supply, and electrical generating equipment.
- Respond to fire alarms and observe and record all readings relating to energy consumption, steam, and water pressures.
- Complete chemical testing and adding of chemicals for the boiler, chilled water, and cooling tower systems.
- Test run emergency stand-by generators, fire booster pumps, and follow regulations set out by the Department with regard to safe operations and inspections.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 2nd Class Power Engineering Certification registered with the Province of Manitoba.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5F driver's licence.
- Physical ability to perform the required duties of this position.
- Ability to work in a restricted and/or confined space.
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to steam, chemicals, noise, and dust.
