Job Title: Tile Setter

Penguin Basements Ltd. is seeking a skilled Tile Setter to join our team. As a Tile Setter, you will be responsible for preparing, measuring, and marking surfaces to be covered with tile, mixing and applying adhesives, and setting tiles in place.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare surfaces for tile installation, including measuring and marking walls and floors.
  • Mix and apply adhesives, such as mortar and cement, to ensure a strong bond between tiles and surfaces.
  • Set tiles in place, using hand tools and power tools as needed, to create a level and even surface.
  • Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings, using hand and power cutting tools.
  • Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout to create a clean and finished look.
  • Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles, as needed.
  • Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural, and floor designs.
  • Cut, surface, polish, and install marble and granite tiles.
Requirements:
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in tile setting or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, handling heavy loads and working at heights.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable and hardworking, with a strong work ethic.
