Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to support students with diverse needs in a long-term assignment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers and staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of instructional programs.
- Support students with personal and hygienic care, including toileting, catheterizing, and life skills.
- Administer medication in accordance with Board Policy and Administration Regulations.
- Participate in occupational, physio, speech, and other therapy or behavioural programs as directed.
- Supervise in-school and out-of-school student activities.
- Participate in Identification, Placement, and Review Committee (IPRC) Meetings and case conferences as required.
- Requires O.S.S.D. plus two years of specialized training, i.e., Educational Assistant Program, Child Youth Worker, Autism Support Worker, or equivalent.
- Requires knowledge of pertinent Board policies and directives, such as Physical Intervention, Discipline, Administration of Medication, and/or Special Services.
- Requires operating audio-visual and office equipment, such as computers, projectors, and photocopiers.
- Requires performing physical duties, such as lifting and positioning students, and implementing Behaviour Management Systems and physical intervention strategies.
- Requires communicating effectively and working co-operatively with students, teachers, administration, Board personnel, parents, community agencies, and organizations.
