Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dishwasher to join our team at The Westin Ottawa. As a key member of our food and beverage team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in our kitchen and dining areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and tools, including dish washing machines, hand wash stations, and trash compactors.
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen and store room areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
  • Receive and store deliveries, ensuring perishables are handled and stored properly.
  • Ensure clean wares are stored in designated areas.
  • Use detergent, rinsing, and sanitizing chemicals to clean dishes in the 3-compartment sink.
  • Inspect, pull, and stack cleaned items, sending soiled items back for re-scrubbing and re-washing.
  • Rack and spray all racked items with hot water to loosen and remove food residue.
  • Sort, soak, and wash/re-wash silverware.
  • Break down dirty bus tubs.
  • Empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster areas.
  • Clean and mop all areas in assigned departments.
  • Dispose of glass in designated containers.
  • Break down cardboard boxes and place them and other recyclables in the recycle bin.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Ability to perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • No high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • No related work experience required.
  • No supervisory experience required.
  • No license or certification required.
