Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Traffic Control Person to join our team in the Halifax Regional Municipality and Annapolis Valley areas. As a Traffic Control Person, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic at temporary work sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulate road traffic to maintain a safe environment for workers and motorists;
- Utilize a Stop/Slow paddle to indicate traffic flow and ensure public safety;
- Maintain open communication with colleagues to coordinate traffic management;
- Ensure public traffic has priority over work-related traffic;
- Report any unsafe traffic movements or incidents;
- Provide assistance to pedestrians crossing work areas;
- Be vigilant and aware of surroundings at all times;
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment;
- Protect and promote the interests of the company;
- Ensure the safety of fellow employees;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Hold a valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) accreditation or be willing to obtain;
- Be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and weekends;
- Be reliable and punctual;
- Be willing to learn construction site protocols, rules, and code of conduct;
- Be able to work effectively in a team environment;
- Operate required equipment safely and responsibly;
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures;
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and supervisors;
- Have reliable transportation to job sites;
- Be willing to undergo training and development opportunities.
