Job Summary

Velocity Truck Centres is seeking a skilled Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for the administration of employee group benefits and Company RRSP plans. Your expertise in payroll processing and benefits administration will ensure timely and accurate payment to our employees.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and process full cycle semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salary employees in multiple locations and collective agreements.
- Administration of employee group benefits and Company RRSP plans.
- Prepare, review, and reconcile various payroll and benefit related reports for salaried and/or hourly employees, including monthly journal entries.
- Perform general ledger reconciliation and account analysis for various payroll and withholding accounts.
- Perform monthly insurance updating online with company group benefit providers, and internally including calculations for monthly JV's. Maintain insurance files and monitor eligibility and changes as required.
- Function as liaison between Company employees and various insurance and employee benefit providers.

Requirements

- Minimum of 5 years' experience in payroll and benefits administration.
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce HRIS system, current payroll practices and worker compensation programs are required.
- UKG HRMS experience is considered an asset.
- Above average skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certifications is preferred.
- Post secondary education in payroll is an asset.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting.
- Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing.
- Initiative-taker and able to work in a fast-paced, detailed, and process-driven environment.
