Job DescriptionThe Staff Nurse works as part of an inter-professional team in the planning and provision of care to youth with chronic and persistent mental health disorders. This role requires delivering family-centered nursing care consistent with the philosophy, objectives, mission, and vision of IWK Health.
The successful candidate will be responsible for initial and ongoing nursing assessments, participating in interdisciplinary treatment plans, and ensuring the integration of identified treatment plans on the 24/5 or 24/7 unit. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing patient needs and providing comprehensive care, is essential.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
- Licensed or eligible for licensure by the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
- Current successful completion of CPR Level-C Health Care Provider or Basic Life Support (BLS) course within the last 12 months
- Previous psychiatric nursing experience required
- Knowledge of harm reduction approach and Best Practice modalities for substance abuse and/or concurrent disorders preferred
