About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Interventionist to join our team of mental health professionals in the African Nova Scotian Service.

As a Clinical Interventionist, you will work with children, youth and families from diverse backgrounds, providing culturally responsive care and support. You will be part of an innovative team that is dedicated to improving mental health outcomes for African Nova Scotian youth.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work as part of an interprofessional team within the African Nova Scotian Service, collaborating with healthcare professionals including nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychiatrists.

You will provide direct clinical services to children, youth, and families, utilizing evidence-informed approaches and cultural humility. This includes conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing interventions that promote skill development and social-emotional functioning.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Mastery of a relevant field, such as clinical psychology, speech-language pathology, or occupational therapy.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia.
  • Knowledge and awareness of the African Nova Scotia community and youth-serving organizations.
  • Experience working in pediatric mental health and addictions settings, preferably with African Nova Scotian populations.
  • Excellent assessment, treatment planning, and intervention skills.
  • Able to design, implement, and monitor psychological programming to enhance social-emotional functioning.
  • Familiarity with non-violent crisis intervention certification (NCI) and current CPR Level-C Healthcare Provider or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
