We're seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our team at Magpie & Stump, a vibrant restaurant in the heart of Banff. As a key member of our culinary team, you'll be responsible for leading the kitchen, managing food preparation, and ensuring exceptional quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the kitchen team, ensuring efficient food preparation and presentation
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to maintain kitchen organization and standards
  • Coordinate ordering of supplies, managing inventory and minimizing waste
  • Train and develop kitchen staff, recognizing opportunities for improvement
  • Verify food storage and handling procedures meet regulatory and corporate standards
  • Assist with hiring top talent for the kitchen team

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years culinary experience, with prior supervisory experience an asset
  • Food Safety certification and knowledge of best practices for training kitchen staff
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, remaining calm and collected under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships with team members
  • Flexible schedule required
