Job Title: Communications Clerk

At Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, we are seeking a skilled Communications Clerk to join our team. As a Communications Clerk, you will play a vital role in the activation of life-saving processes within our health centre, including protocols for acute stroke, Code STEMI, and Code Blue/Pink.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process incoming calls, transferring or resolving as requested
  • Monitor and respond to critical alarms and operate communications systems
  • Perform clerical duties, including morgue flow management
  • Provide after-hours support to the Infrastructure Technology Services department and regional hospital partners

Requirements:

  • Secondary School Graduation required
  • Post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline required; Office Administration – Health Services preferred
  • Medical Terminology course required or willingness to complete within one year of hire date
  • 3 years office experience, preferably in a healthcare setting is an asset
  • Previous call centre experience, including on a Cisco Unified Attendant Console and Hill-Rom notification system is an asset
  • Previous customer service experience in a fast-paced environment required

Competencies:

  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Outlook, Office, Excel, and SharePoint, and Meditech Expanse
  • Prioritizes and multitasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Utilizes excellent customer service skills and remains calm and composed while answering and directing telephone calls
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and good problem-solving skills in prioritizing and handling calls and alarms
  • Functions within Health and Safety guidelines to provide a safe and supportive environment for patients and families
