Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Marketing and Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our Compliance team at Empire Life. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our marketing materials and business communications are compliant with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance Review: Review, edit, and provide feedback on marketing and communications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate trademark use, and branding.
  • Regulatory Advice: Assess regulatory requirements and provide business units with advice on compliance matters, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure marketing materials and business communications are compliant.
  • Communication Enhancement: Identify opportunities to enhance the readability of marketing and business communications, ensuring they are clear, concise, and compliant.
  • Compliance Inquiries: Respond to marketing compliance inquiries and manage the Legal and Compliance mailbox, determining when escalation is required.
  • Project Participation: Participate in projects as requested, contributing to the development of marketing compliance requirements and providing research, file management, and other support to the Director, Compliance.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor and track key regulatory and financial services policy issues, engaging in opportunities to influence public policy development and providing information to senior management for review.
  • Industry Engagement: Assist with the coordination of Empire Life submissions on industry and regulatory matters, documenting trends and information for communication with stakeholders.
  • Committee Support: Provide support for company involvement in industry committees and working groups, conducting daily monitoring of the external environment to identify policy issues and opportunities for Empire Life.
Requirements
  • Industry Experience: 3+ years of work experience in the insurance/financial services industry, preferably with distribution or marketing review experience.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of life insurance, mutual funds, and marketing, preferably with related legislative and regulatory knowledge.
  • Marketing Compliance: Knowledge of financial services and marketing/advertising industry regulations and requirements with regards to marketing compliance review.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, internet, and presentation software; familiarity with Workfront is an asset.
  • Language Skills: Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
  • Designations: FLMI and CSC designation are assets.
  • Education: Completion of a college diploma with courses in marketing communications, public relations law, marketing.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, resolve matters in a professional and tactful manner, and prioritize and balance multiple tasks or projects.
