Culinary Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Limited. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods, ensuring exceptional quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Co-ordinate special events such as weddings, corporate functions, and holiday parties;
  • Determine the size of food portions and costs, maintaining accurate records;
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies, ensuring timely delivery and inventory management;
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, promoting safe food practices;
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety regulations;
Work Environment:

You will work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with varying temperatures and exposure to allergens and heavy loads. Regular overtime may be required to meet high demand periods.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen setting;
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities;
  • Certificate or diploma in culinary arts is an asset.
