Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Transportation Coordinator to join our team at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. This role is responsible for receiving and processing requests for medical assistance and transportation, prioritizing and coordinating with dispatch agencies to ensure efficient and effective medical response and transportation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer and process calls for service, obtaining essential information from callers and triaging the nature of injuries and illnesses.
  • Monitor and operate communication systems to maintain efficient and essential communications.
  • Receive, record, and maintain support information regarding each case.
  • Refer callers to appropriate clinical personnel as needed.
  • Advise law enforcement and other agencies of incidents and situations requiring their involvement.
  • Collaborate with the VECTRS team to provide information and support as required.
Requirements
  • Experience in a call center environment is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge or experience working with Emergency Department Information Systems (EDIS) is an asset.
  • Degree/Diploma in a relevant health care or health sciences related discipline from an accredited education institution.
  • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Emergency Medical Service/medical transportation communication and operations is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Competent in Windows based computer programs.
