Job Summary

As a Unit Secretary in the Operating Room at North York General Hospital, you will play a vital role in supporting the Perioperative Services team. This is a part-time unscheduled position, requiring flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative, secretarial, and receptionist support to the Perioperative Services team in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, families, and external parties, utilizing strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activities and requests, including patient transportation and scheduling.
  • Manage confidential information and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with the preparation and dissemination of reports, statistics, and other materials.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, including data entry, photocopying, and supply management.
Requirements
  • Diploma in a related field (e.g., medical office assistant or administrative studies).
  • Minimum one year of experience in a medical office or administrative role, with a focus on medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and typing skills of at least 45 w.p.m.
  • Experience with SBR and Surginet is an asset.
