Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at CB Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Corporate Accountant on payroll administration, payroll costing, and government reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently handle payroll administration, provide information and answer employee questions about payroll-related matters.
  • Prepare payroll costing of union proposals during arbitration and negotiation.
  • Assist the Corporate Accountant on payroll budget and costing.
  • Perform payroll variance analysis and reports.
  • Supervise the payroll Specialist to process payroll and benefits, prepare journal entries.
  • Assure timely and accurately filing of payroll-related returns.
  • Assist the Corporate Accountant on preparing payroll documentation.
  • Perform Government report on payroll, in compliance with MOH requirements.
  • Prepare payroll expense reconciliation.
  • Prepare schedules and reconciliation for interim and year-end audit.
  • Provide backup payroll support to run reports on items including but not limited to hours and earnings reports, benefits, seniority, sick, vacation and union accrual.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a business-related discipline.
  • PCD designation is an asset.
  • 3-5 years of payroll and accounting analysis and reporting experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, creating pivot tables, v-lookups and linked worksheets.
  • Proficiency in ADP payroll system, Query is highly preferred.
  • Analytical thinking and excellent trouble-shooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English & Cantonese, both verbal and written.
  • Strong sense of ownership to high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic to deal with accounting & payroll-related issues with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
