Job Overview:

The Manufacturing Systems Engineer Lead will play a key role in supporting the business by designing and maintaining complex test processes that align to product specifications. This individual will ensure the highest quality product is manufactured, through efforts that bolster safe operations while enhancing quality and efficiency.

Main Responsibilities:

  • This role requires working with cross-functional teams and project management fundamentals that tackle pre-planned and unplanned projects. Success begins with a process-oriented approach that will cultivate robust manufacturing and the learnings of system-level interactions between hardware, software, and firmware.
  • The ideal candidate will be a team player, able to interact and communicate effectively with team members across the organization to achieve short and long-term milestones.
  • This role involves developing a strong understanding of the manufacturing processes and design requirements unique to WESCAM.
  • Collaboration with the Design Engineering team is required, translating new requirements into robust manufacturing processes or specifications that support new test software and test equipment.
  • This includes designing and maintenance of manufacturing processes, including Acceptance Tests and Environmental Stress Screening.
  • The Manufacturing Systems Engineer Lead will lead and participate in multiple projects related to New Product Introduction (NPI) and/or Sustaining Product.
  • Possessing the agility to manage and drive both small and large-scale projects is essential.
  • This role acts as a point of contact for assistance in troubleshooting and resolving system-level mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical manufacturing issues.
  • Analyzing trends, events, and manufacturing challenges with the goal of eliminating the impact to production is crucial.
  • Hands-on development work is required to understand and stabilize the processes being used to validate and test product.
  • This role leads continuous improvement initiatives and projects using principles such as Safety, Design for Manufacturability, and Ergonomics, Process Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Lessons Learned, and Waste Reduction using Six Sigma philosophy.
  • Conducting 8D root cause analysis and implementing permanent corrective actions is also a key responsibility.
  • Assessing Engineering/Production Change Requests and owning the implementation of changes as required is necessary.
  • This role acts as a backup point of contact to peers on the team as required.
  • Supporting any other business priorities as required by Operations Engineering leadership is expected.
  • This position creates business rationales behind capital expenditures, including return on investment.

  • Reading and understanding Mechanical drawings and Electrical schematics is required.

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
