Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Indigenous Health Service Assistant to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing culturally sensitive support to our Indigenous patients, families, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enable access to appropriate cultural and clinical support services
  • Provide orientation and wayfinding for patients and families to our facilities and services
  • Support admission and discharge processes
  • Facilitate communication between the care team and patients and families
Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized Social Services Worker certificate or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the unique history, cultures, and rights of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples in Canada
  • Lived experience with Indigenous, Métis, and Inuit populations and demonstrated extensive knowledge of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit health care needs, services, and issues
