Indigenous Health Specialist

This is a unique opportunity to join the Government of Northwest Territories as an Indigenous Health Specialist. The successful candidate will work in a school setting, providing direct student care and sharing traditional knowledge to support the health and wellness of children and youth.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide non-judgmental listening and offer traditional knowledge to support student health and wellness
- Collaborate with educators, principals, and other school staff to develop and implement culture and language programming
- Work with community members and organizations to provide comprehensive, person-centered care
- Provide advice and guidance to students, educators, and other stakeholders on Indigenous health and wellness issues
- Extensive traditional knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories
- Diploma in counseling, education, or social work, and one year of experience working with children and youth in a school or counseling setting
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural setting and provide leadership and expertise in Indigenous health and wellness
