AVP Underwriting Policy Job Description

At Aviva, we're looking for a talented AVP Underwriting Policy professional to join our team. As a key member of our Underwriting team, you'll play a crucial role in driving our technical underwriting strategy and ensuring the success of our Personal & Specialty Lines portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of our underwriting policy and procedures, ensuring they're aligned with our business strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with our Product and Customer teams to design and launch new products that meet our customers' needs and drive business growth.
  • Work closely with our IT team to modernize and simplify our underwriting processes, leveraging digital transformation to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, industry committees, and other external partners.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to our underwriting team, ensuring they have the skills and resources needed to succeed.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory changes, ensuring our underwriting policies and procedures remain compliant and effective.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical insurance functions, with a proven track record in underwriting, claims, or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, coordinate, and disseminate complex information.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to correspond with senior leaders, peers, and external contacts.
  • High level of integrity and credibility, with a strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
