**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Design and implement scalable and efficient backend systems using Python, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies.
  • Collaborate with our development team to ensure seamless integration of backend logic with frontend applications.
  • Develop data integrations with third-party APIs and our core systems.
  • Configure necessary development tools and libraries to enhance performance and scalability.
  • Implement batch processing techniques for data writes to the database to optimize system performance.
  • Enhance logging and error handling mechanisms to ensure system stability and reliability.
  • Document the new backend system architecture and codebase for reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure smooth integration of backend services.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, preferably with expertise in Python and JavaScript.
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases and experience with database management.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with AWS micro-services/products such as CDK, Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudFormation, CodePipeline.
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks, particularly React and Angular.
  • Familiarity with deployment tools and scripting languages.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Experience with source control tools such as GIT and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience implementing and integrating with RESTful web services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both technical and non-technical.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Knowledge of media and newsroom workflows.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming and task scheduling.
