Job Summary

The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department at the City of Ottawa is seeking a qualified Fitness Instructor to lead specialized group fitness and fitness-related classes in identified programs.

As a Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for providing instruction in accordance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures, rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead group fitness classes in specialized programs
  • Develop and implement fitness programs that meet the needs of diverse populations
  • Provide instruction and guidance to participants
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 10 and Current Fitness Certification from a recognized fitness certification organization
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience or equivalent apprenticeship
  • Fitness Instructor certificate (e.g., canfitpro, YM-YWCA, Ontario Fitness Council or other recognized certification)
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training

Working Conditions

  • Varies depending on program and location
  • May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays

Language Requirements

  • Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies

Police Record Check

  • The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction
