Fitness Instructor

The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fitness Instructor to join our Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department. As a Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for leading a variety of group fitness classes for identified programs at the City of Ottawa, in accordance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures, rules and regulations.
Responsibilities- Lead group fitness classes for identified programs at the City of Ottawa
- Develop and implement fitness programs that meet the needs of diverse populations
- Provide instruction on a wide variety of group fitness and fitness-related classes
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for participants
- Collaborate with other recreation and fitness staff to develop and implement programs
- Completion of Grade 10 and Current Fitness Certification from a recognized fitness certification organization (or equivalent as deemed acceptable by management)
- Minimum of 6 months of experience or equivalent apprenticeship
- Fitness Instructor certificate (e.g., canfitpro, YM-YWCA, Ontario Fitness Council or other recognized certification)
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
- AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
- A competitive salary range of $23.678 - $34.578 per hour (2024 rates of pay)
