Job Summary:

As a key member of our CP team, the Train Operations Manager will be responsible for leading train movements and operations, ensuring compliance with operating plans and regulations. This role requires strong leadership and safety oversight skills, as well as the ability to coordinate train movements within the yard and mainline.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and standardize processes related to operating plan, arrival, classification, building, inspecting, and dispatching of trains.
  • Provide leadership accountability for safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics.
  • Effectively lead train and engine operating employees, promoting rule compliance and implementing preventative measures.
  • Occasionally operate trains, maintaining certifications and licenses as per industry regulations.
  • Assist in crew transportation to and from trains.
Requirements:
  • Previous railway experience as a conductor and locomotive engineer qualification is an asset.
  • 2 years' previous supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment is preferred.
  • Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions.
  • Leadership presence with a drive for career advancement.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to drill down to understand root cause and resolve complex issues.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise instructions/directions.
  • Read and understand safety instructions, operating rules, regulations, and other written or printed material in English.
  • High school diploma/general equivalency diploma, required.
  • Valid driver's license, required.
  • Proficient in MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
