Main Purpose and Function

The Compliance and Training Agent plays a critical role in ensuring the Street Operations Branch meets regulatory compliance requirements and provides safety and best practice consultation services to supervisors and management within Engineering Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC, National Safety Code, BC Motor Vehicle Act, and other applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Advise and consult with management on best practices and compliance requirements, developing procedures and processes to document best practices and compliance.
  • Conduct comprehensive onsite risk assessments and safety studies, writing evaluative reports and recommending measures to mitigate occupational health and safety risk.
  • Develop and deliver safety and operational training programs, preparing training agendas and resource materials suitable for different learning styles and audiences.
  • Audit operations for compliance, creating and maintaining audit records and notifying field supervisors and/or Superintendents on non-compliance issues.
  • Maintain a workplace accident database and related records, preparing correspondence and reports as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Completion of a recognized certificate/diploma program in occupational health and safety and sound related experience in construction safety, heavy equipment operations, or civil construction industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, rules, and procedures related to the work.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including technical writing, facilitating meetings, and giving presentations.
  • Ability to design training courses with theory and practical components, facilitate and manage large diverse groups within an educational setting, and work independently with little supervision.
